People who have been forced to flee often struggle to find a doctor when they are sick. Far from home, they struggle to find schools for their children or even a place for them to run around and play.

We work together with refugees every day to help them access these services and build better futures – and we need your help to achieve this!

HAMI centers in  Qom, Tehran, Mashad and Semnan provinces celebrated World Refugee Day in  various ceremonies. This day has  provided an opportunity for immigrant and refugee activists in social and cultural fields .

This year, World Refugee Day coincides with the beginning of HAMI summer activities. This opportunity helps us to strengthen cooperation and empowerment with refugee communities more in by sharing experiences.

World Refugee Day shines a light on the rights, needs and dreams of refugees, helping to mobilize political will and resources so refugees can not only survive but also thrive. While it is important to protect and improve the lives of refugees every single day, international days like World Refugee Day help to focus global attention on the plight of those fleeing conflict or persecution. Many activities held on World Refugee Day create opportunities to support refugees.

 Education helps people forced to flee build better futures. We are working together with partners to provide refugee children access to quality education so they can pursue better lives.

During the initial weeks and months of the COVID-19 crisis HAMI association tried to maintain this agility, modifying and adjusting the composition and characteristics of support packages, targeting vulnerable groups.

Janatabad Center

Janatabad Center of HAMI Association held a celebration on the occasion of Refugee Day, bringing together governmental and non-governmental activists to present the capabilities of refugee community, especially the progress of students in various educational, cultural and scientific fields.

 During the epidemic, educational and social service centers of HAMI continued their activities in compliance with health protocols.

In this regard, representatives of government such as Deputy manager of Social and Cultural Affairs, Mr. Delbari, and Mr. Qashqaei, the Deputy manager of Social services, From the municipal office of Tehran were   joining the meeting.

Ms. Ashrafi, the director of HAMI, also presented reports on the current situation of the students and the scope of their activities.

Center of Mashhad:

HAMI Center of Mashhad also celebrated Refugee Day due to the Corona Pandemic by offering summer educational, cultural and artistic packages, which were admired by parents who were taking part in event of    World Refugee Day .

Various art classes such as painting, sewing and computer training and strengthening scientific courses were the most prominent of these activities in the center of Mashhad.

Semnan Center:

At the Semnan Center, the Refugee and Immigrant Society, were able to use psychological and health counseling packages along with art classes for students on the occasion of World Refugee Day.

The Deputy director of Welfare organization (Behzisti) visited the Hami Center in Semnan to get acquainted with the activities of refugees and he  appreciated the achievements of the refugees in the province.

Center of Qom:

“Together we heal, learn and shine”

Refugee Day was an opportunity for HAMI teachers in the Qom Center to come together and share their experiences as refugees and Emphasizing on this issue that shared experience of COVID-19 has showed us that we only succeed if we stand together. We have all had to do our part to keep each other safe and despite the challenges, refugees and displaced people have stepped up. Given the chance, refugees will continue to contribute to a stronger, safer, and more vibrant world. This year, we call for greater inclusion of refugees in health systems, schools, and sport. Only by working together can we recover from the pandemic.”
