Following the unjust military attacks carried out by the United States and the Israeli regime against civilian residential areas and critical civilian infrastructure—including hospitals and healthcare facilities, schools, universities, and other public institutions—thousands of civilians suffered devastating and often irreversible consequences. The loss of life and injuries among women, children, older persons, and other vulnerable civilians, together with the destruction of thousands of homes and personal belongings, profoundly disrupted the lives and livelihoods of countless families.
The impact of the conflict extended far beyond physical destruction. Continuous military strikes severely affected employment opportunities, household incomes, and local economic activities, placing an additional burden on communities that have already endured more than two decades of severe economic sanctions. Rising healthcare costs, loss of livelihoods, destruction of homes and assets, and reduced access to essential services have significantly increased the vulnerability of conflict-affected households.
In line with the humanitarian mandate of the Association for Protection of Refugee Women and Children (HAMI) to support women, children, and other vulnerable populations affected by armed conflict and humanitarian crises, the organization has mobilized support through partnerships with local philanthropists as well as humanitarian non-governmental organizations and civil society partners in neighboring countries and Southeast Asia. These efforts have focused on identifying and assisting the households most severely affected by the recent conflict.
Priority has been given to women-headed households, families who lost one or more family members during the conflict, individuals who sustained severe injuries or permanent disabilities, households caring for older persons or people with chronic or life-threatening illnesses, and families whose livelihoods were directly disrupted or destroyed as a consequence of the war.
To date, more than 150 conflict-affected households have been identified and supported in Tehran and Isfahan Provinces, the two provinces that experienced the highest levels of military attacks and civilian damage.
The following section presents selected stories of beneficiaries supported through this programme.
