HAMI contributes as Advisory Committee Member to the 2025 UNHCR Regional Consultations with NGOs in Asia and the Pacific
The Association for the Protection of Refugee Women and Children (HAMI) is honored to have served as a member of the Civil Society Advisory Committee for the 2025 UNHCR Regional Consultations with NGOs in Asia and the Pacific, held on 17–18 September 2025 (online).
The consultations, jointly organized by UNHCR’s Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific, the Asia Pacific Refugee Rights Network (APRRN), and the International Council of Voluntary Agencies (ICVA), provided a collaborative platform for governments, NGOs, refugee-led organizations, and civil society actors to shape practical solutions for protection and localization.
As part of the 14-member Advisory Committee, HAMI contributed to shaping the agenda, identifying regional priorities, and ensuring that local perspectives—particularly those from Iran and the Afghan refugee context—were effectively represented. Through several preparatory and coordination meetings, HAMI shared insights on community-based protection, women and children’s empowerment, and the role of national NGOs in advancing equitable partnerships within humanitarian responses.
During the two-day consultation, discussions focused on two major themes: Protection and Solutions in Onward Movements, and Localization in Practice. HAMI emphasized the importance of locally led responses, inclusive decision-making, and sustained international support for host communities providing long-term protection to refugees.
HAMI’s continued engagement in this process reflects its commitment to strengthening regional cooperation, advancing localization, and promoting the rights and dignity of refugees, women, and children across Asia and the Pacific.
