The Vice-President of women’s affairs, Ms. Shahindokht Mollaverdi visited one of the HAMI’s education centers in south of Tehran and said: “Education is a key to development and empowerment and if this key is not provided to girls and women, we cannot expect them to extend their ability.”
Vice-President mentioned that government has to invest in order to the enjoyment of a human character, having a better life and deal with harms in the life of youth. “Currently the whole world have concluded that cost of education is a kind of investment. That is why the key to development and empowerment is investment” she said.
Stating that providing the educational services to refugees and migrants has been the primarily responsibility of Iran in the way of development. She added: “great work has been done by civil society organisations for years and the government could not make progress without their help.”
The issue of children with two nationalities was another subject that she mentioned: “percentage of Afghan have Iranian mother and this case is actively being pursued by the department of Women and Family Affairs presidency.”
She announced the formation of a joint committee with the legal vice president and stated that duties of the committee is to determine the citizenship and identity of children of women married to migrants. “It has been sent many reports to the president and we do our best to reach to a good and definite conclusion soon.”
